Spirit of the Land: Stories for Generations

The 7th Annual Spirit of the Land Conference will take place on Saturday, October 27th, 2018 from 10 am – 3:30 pm at the Augustana Campus of the University of Alberta in Camrose.

Schedule of Events:

Please note – there will be time designated for round table discussions and Q/A after each keynote address, and after the panel discussion.

9 am: Doors open (Augustana Chapel / Faith & Life Lounge)

10 am: Conference begins

10:15 am: Morning speaker: Alice Major, writer of 12 collections of poetry, and first poet laureate of Edmonton

11:30 am: Morning speaker: David A. Robertson, graphic novelist and writer and member of Norway House Cree Nation

12:30 pm: Lunch in the Faith & Life Lounge ($5 meal ticket required – can be purchased as separate ticket item at registration)

1:30 pm: Afternoon speaker: Tenille K. Campbell, Dene and Métis poet and photographer from English River First Nation

2:30 pm: Panel discussion with Alice, David, and Tenille

3:30-7 pm: Free time – all are welcome to gather back together at 7 pm for the Storyteller Cafe

7 pm: Storyteller cafe – in partnership with the Augustana Medium, join us in Wahkohtowin Lodge Classroom (Augustana Forum, lower level) for an evening of storytelling among friends
*The storyteller cafe is a separate event from the Spirit of the Land Conference and is free to attend, whereas the Spirit of the Land Conference has associated registration fees. Click here to view conference registration fees.*
