Janice Makokis is a Nehiyaw Iskwew (Cree woman), Indigenous Scholar and Activist, Legal Eagle, treaty educator, treaty fighter, and leader for Idle No More and regular Twitter user (@bearclannation).
Janice was born and raised on the Saddle Lake Cree Nation in northeastern Alberta. She holds a Masters degree in Indigenous Studies and earned her Law degree from the University of Ottawa in 2010. Janice articled with the Ministry of the Attorney General in Toronto before moving back to Alberta in 2011.
